Gossip Girl (2007-2012)

A series isn’t a movie although I like to think it is. A long movie with seasons as sequels. Anyway, I decided to put series under ‘Movie Madness’ because I didn’t know another name and to be honest I don’t watch that many series.

The series in short
Gossip Girl is an American teen drama television series based on the book series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegesar. The series revolves around the lives of privileged young adults on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in New York City. The series has six seasons and ran from 2007 to 2012. So six years which is a long time a lot of the actors started when they were around 20 years old and the series ended when they were 26 (in their real life not the TV age)

What did I think?
I started watching Gossip Girl over the summer. I didn’t have much to do and I wanted to follow a good series at my own time when I wanted to watch and I could watch three episodes in a row if I wanted to which was the best. I got into it and fell in love with the characters.

Blair, Serena, Nate, Dan, Chuck, and all the other people involved. I loved it and then I went to school again and life got hectic well I finally finished the whole series and I must say it’s one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. Not only is it fun to watch it holds a lot of lessons for everyone young or old. I think that makes it such a strong show, in between fashion advice and teens becoming adults. This series does all of these things.

I liked Serena the best at first but then noticed that I fell in love with Blair every episode and I realised I see a lot of myself in her. I know what I want, how I want it, and most importantly when. I am a dreamer and a believer in love. Friends can be family and family is the most important thing. Blair is sassy and full of character. She can be very angry with every fiber of her being but also love with every piece of her heart. She waited for her fairytale and when she didn’t get it the way she wanted it she chose to go for that one thing she always knew she needed, love.

Gossip girl taught me about friends, about family about love, and about making your dreams happen. It may seem like a normal series for teens but it’s much more than that because I still wonder when making decisions: “What would Blair Waldorf do?”.
The story does become weird at certain parts but overall I find it lovely. There are a million and one quotes from this show that I love but this quote is the best. It’s from the last episode and if you have seen this you know where it is from

”Three words, eight letters”.
“One word three letters, yes”

And who gossip girl is? That’s a secret I’ll never tell.

xoxo (and lots of love)
