Getting older

A bit ago I went on a high tea with a friend, it was for her birthday. She turned nineteen now if you have followed my blog for a little bit you might know I am also nineteen (have been for a bit). We had fun at the high tea but that is not what I wanted to talk to you about. It is the feeling of getting old.

We all have it and it’s funny but my friends and I have that all so much now a day which is probably because we are all turning twenty soon. Now you might think, what on earth are you babbling on about.

Twenty isn’t old. I know it isn’t but it isn’t about the number. We as people are growing up. I think everyone has this at some point in their lives, the feeling of growing older, being mature. Now I am still a student and I will be for the next no one knows how many years but I have friends that are soon going to be working or friends that already work. I don’t mean a weekend job at the local supermarket but a real grown up 9 to 5 job, a full time job that is. It’s not about being an adult and doing adult things. Before we know it we will have a family (gasp…). Life is short but for now…

We are old enough to know better but young enough to do it anyway.

Live a little, adulthood comes later.

Growing up isn’t scary many of my friends believe it is. It really is not. When you are a young adult you are going to try to do adult things but if you have a lovely support system you are going to have people to fall back on. People that guide you through it and when you look back in twenty years you are happy that you did go to that party or that you did stay in and watched that movie.

Live is short, try to enjoy it while growing up and don’t worry, you don’t have to adult today.

Lots of love,Β

Melissa
