Ready, set, Autumn
It’s August, which means it’s practically autumn, as far as the internet is concerned. I have never seen as much autumn, or as the Americans call it, Fall content, as I have seen in the past few days. The weather here has been dreadful, and I, too, have bought my winter candles. Do I want to cosy up and pretend we are practically in winter? I sure do, but like everything, I don’t think we should celebrate too early.
I do not like Summer, I have never really loved it. It’s hot and sticky, and half the time I am dressed wrong. Not to mention that I have a hard time regulating my temperature. Summer is dreadful all around. I do, however, think that if we celebrate Autumn in August, we are halfway done with Autumn come October first. What are we going to do then? Christmas? Now, I love Christmas, I could celebrate throughout the year and all right, sure, I too I have also already bought Autumn candles because surely they will be sold out otherwise.
But there is something about the wait, something about September. Where the leaves change colour, and my candles smelling of firewood and cinnamon sticks make their appearance. When cosy socks are a need and not an Instagram post. Only then will I think about saying it’s arrived. It’s Autumn.
What I Read
This month, I have found myself on my Bookstagram once more. I have really been enjoying it. I have not read a ton. I did read a few really good books, Daisy Jones & the Six, My Friends, and a Touch of Darkness were some of the books I enjoyed this month. I have not written reviews of these books. I must admit I am terribly behind in writing in general. I’ve read so many great books, and I really do want to share them with you. I do think this month and the next will be very fun with a lot of interesting book reviews.
I’ve also been thinking of doing a challenge of sorts, but if I do that, I’ll let you know. I have also posted read with me’s on TikTok, and although they are not popular by any means, I do love sharing them. As I said before, I am still in the summer, which is reflected in this content.
What I wrote and thought about writing
This month I have finished the Brigerton series, I have read Violet in Bloom and want to finish that one of very strong (somewhere in the near future). I have enjoyed the series immensely, and I think it was so much fun.
I talked about the fact that I am not a vanilla person and my piece with that, as well as a new scent I have enjoyed recently. The month started off strong with a review of my recent favourite book and its sequel. I must admit that I felt I was never going to be completely happy with that review, as there are not enough words to explain the vibes of the story and why I love exactly that.
I’ve also been reflecting on some of my favourite products. This month (and last month), I have been doing a set of three peelings as a sort of regime. Therefore, I have not worn a lot of make-up, but I do think my skin is better for it now. Makeup in Autumn is always so very interesting to me, and I am getting ready for September to commence. But before that, August has some hidden gems and I will celebrate them to their fullest.
What I’m holding onto and what I’m letting go
Honestly, I started a new agenda and I have been loving to get a bit more grip on my daily routines while also feeling a bit all over the place. I love to work structured but I also enjoy being creative. This sense is what I am going to be focusing on a lot more this August.
See you all in September when Autumn will commence.
