After the Credits

Pride and Prejudice (2005)

I was reading Pride and Prejudice, and I could not get into it, which had nothing to do with the story itself. Thus, I decided to watch the film with the hope it would renew my interest (which it did). Having said that, I am fairly sure I had already seen a big chunk of the film, but I am also quite positive I’ve never finished it before.

The film in short
When Elizabeth Bennet meets the handsome Mr Darcy, she believes he is the last man she could ever marry, but as their lives become intertwined, she finds herself captivated by the man she has sworn to hate forever. I got this information here.

My Thoughts
Oh goodness, I liked it a lot. Due to the length of the film, I did think that the transformation of Mr Darcy’s feelings specifically went a bit fast. But I must say we did see some of his change of heart early on. Not to mention that he explained his thought process and his past behaviour quite thoroughly. After watching the film, I have read the book, and it’s much the same there.

I know it’s a time period thing, but the sideburns make absolutely no one attractive. You have all these incredible, pretty women, and then we have these men. Honestly, I know that back in the day, money and such were far more important than looks, but anyone looking at Elizabeth would not worry that she was going to be married to someone eventually.

Everyone else surrounding this couple is quite dramatic, but their love story is quite sweet and straightforward. The film was lovely, but it did make me sigh and reach for the book. Because surely that is better. And of course that was the point after all.
