Just One Day By Gayle Forman
Welcome to the forgotten shelf. This is day 1!
Watch the video for today, here or here.

The Book in short
When sheltered American good girl Allyson “LuLu” Healey first meets laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter at an underground performance of Twelfth Night in England, there’s an undeniable spark. After just one day together, that spark bursts into a flame, or so it seems to Allyson, until the following morning, when she wakes up after a whirlwind day in Paris to discover that Willem has left. Over the next year, Allyson embarks on a journey to come to terms with the narrow confines of her life, and through Shakespeare, travel, and a quest for her almost-true-love, to break free of those confines.

My Thoughts
As I said in the video, I had bought this book in a box set because I watched the movie, If I Stay. The review you read here. The other two books I have read the first book were If I Stay and the second Where She Went. This was a duology, and I must admit that I liked these two a lot more than Just One Day.
I did not like Willem all that much. I did not want to root for the relationship because of it. I also got a bit irritated by a few bits about Paris, London and Amsterdam that were talked about as it was not quite right. It was a fine book, but looking back, I wouldn’t have gotten it. I don’t think it was all that bad, but there was enough I didn’t like, and truly, a bad love interest doesn’t help at all.
That was the forgotten shelf for today. I’ll see you tomorrow.
