After the Credits

A Castle for Christmas (2021)

I love seeing films where the main couple is a bit older; not everyone meets the love of their lives at sixteen, and that’s okay. A second-chance romance, in a faraway destination? Sign me up.

The film in short
To escape a scandal, a bestselling author journeys to Scotland, where she falls in love with a castle – and faces off with the grumpy duke who owns it.

My Thoughts
Call me silly, but I had hoped the ex-husband’s wedding would be at the castle and that this went all wrong or something. But alas, that did not happen. Maybe that was a bit too dramatic.

Having said that, I loved Sophie and the fact that she made her own group of friends who just adored her. I thought this was very good for her. I would have liked to see more of her and her daughter, but I did enjoy their relationship, and it came across as quite good.

I did not fully understand what Sophie saw in Myles, but his overall demeanour became a lot nicer, and his looks are a matter of taste.

I liked the inclusion of the castle without making it a straight-up fairy tale, and I also liked Sophie’s personal connection to it. I did think the ball outfits were dreadful. Overall, I thought this was a very solid Christmas film that was enjoyable.
