The Reading Garden

English Fairy Tales by Flora Annie Steel

Welcome back to the forgotten shelf. This is day 18!
Watch the video for today, here or here.

The Book in short
This book contains over forty of the best-loved fairy stories, beautifully illustrated by Arthur Rackham.

Favourites such as Jack the Giant-killer, Jack and the Beanstalk, Dick Whittington, The Three Little Pigs and The Babes in the Wood are all here among many others, but stories from different traditions also make their appearance, including The Three Bears and Little Red Riding Hood.
I got this information here.

My Thoughts
As I said in the video, this is where it starts, doesn’t it? The stories we heard when we were growing up, and how amazing it is that in all these different languages, all of us all over the world basically heard similar stories because they are quite universal, aren’t they?

I think that on other continents, there are other stories, but I do feel that the lessons we learn from them are the same. I like books, I love stories, and for me, it all started with fairy tales.

That was the forgotten shelf for today. I’ll see you tomorrow.
