The Thurday Murder Club (2025)
Honestly, I was quite keen to watch this film, although to be honest, I thought it would be a series. The film is two hours, which is a long sit. Read my book review here.

The film in short
Four irrepressible retirees spend their time solving cold case murders for fun, but their casual sleuthing takes a thrilling turn when they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands.

My Thoughts
As I said, I was so very excited to watch it, and it did not disappoint. I really enjoy seeing older actors get roles. I really think older actors bring such an enormous amount of knowledge and experiences to roles that do not come out well when playing “background grandma”. I also think society is done with thirty-year-olds being depicted as if they are with one leg into the grave.

The police officer Donna was absolutely wonderful; it was exactly how I pictured her in the book, and she embodied the inner monologue of her character perfectly. I must say most of the actors were how I pictured them, especially Elizabeth and Joyce, who were spot on in their behaviour. I don’t care much about looks, and I also cannot remember anything about their looks from the book.
The film made me laugh at multiple points, and although it was about murder, it was not gruesome in any way. The film was good, even better than I expected. They did right by the book and I enjoyed it immensely.

Watching the film made me excited to read the second book in the series, which is confidently located on my bookshelf.
