The Maze Runner (2014)

I love films, a lot. I wanted to write about them. This is a new thing on my site, called movie madness where I will write about films I have seen and enjoyed. You can search for ‘movie madness’ and find all my film reviews that way. You can also click on movies on the top bar. This will make it easier for you to find! Today we are talking about ‘The Maze Runner’. I went to the movie the maze runner a while ago yet I still wanted to write a blogpost about this movie.

What is the story about?

The story follows a sixteen-year-old boy named Thomas.  Who awakens in a rusty elevator with no memory of who he is, only to learn he’s been delivered in a community of boys soon learning they’re all trapped in a maze. There are a couple boys called ‘runners’ who have been trying to find their way out of the ever-changing labyrinth.

What did I think?

I saw this movie with my brother and I liked it if I am honest. The plot was kind of weird but it probably isn’t if you read the books, I guess. I didn’t read the books so for me it ended on a weird note and my brother said the same. (I can’t tell what I mean exactly because spoilers. If you saw the movie you will understand). My brother also told me he thought it was a bit weird that they showed the whole maze so late in the movie because you have no idea how big it is. I think that was because Thomas doesn’t know how big the maze was and the movie makers wanted to give you the same feel, I’m not sure about this but I think that’s the reason. I do however agree that it takes away from the magnitude of the whole thing.

Spoilers from here on out.

The way the girl came up and that changed everything was interesting. As well as Tomas’ memories that come back. At the end there is this thing called the flare which we don’t know what that is. Which make it that we don’t know what is happening. Now I do get it, because there is another movie to be made and the book series is a four part series, so it makes sense that there isn’t a ‘real’ enough ending. There were just so many loose ends, it was frustrating. I did like it though, the cast was great and I really want to see the next one when it comes out.

Books or movie?

Like I said I didn’t read the books but I do want to read the books. The movie gave me that feeling of “oh my gosh, I need to read this book.” Which is funny. I knew about the books for a while but I never got around to buy and read them. When I saw that they made a movie about it I knew I wanted to watch it and I don’t regret it at all. I think the books are interesting because I’ve heard a lot of good things about them. There are three books and a prequel in the series it’s a so called trilogy (even though there are four books) which means I will probably see the first two movies and then read the books before the last (or last two) movies come out. I read the books of a lot of series after the first two movies. Don’t ask me why because I have no idea. It’s this thing that I do, I will however write about the books, when I read them.

Last notes

It was a very cool film overall. The actors where great! And somewhere very good looking which is a plus for me. If you want to see a movie with action but also a good story this is the movie for you. If you want to see a good movie go see the maze runner! You can watch the video through this link, or get the DVD here.

Did you see the maze runner and what did you think?

Lots of love, Melissa
