Annabelle (2014)

Have you heard about Annabelle? The real doll lives in a glass box because then she can’t escape. Well, I have heard about the doll and I have been interested in the story. So this movie must be a good one, right? Well, I finally got around to seeing it and wrote down what I thought.

What is it about?
A couple begins to experience terrifying supernatural occurrences involving a vintage doll shortly after their home is invaded by satanic cultists. I couldn’t have described it better myself. Anyway, their home and one of the dolls they one become well possessed.

What did I think?
Well, it had a lot of jump scares one too many if you ask me. Like I said before I have been fascinated with this story for a while but it didn’t have the feel I have when I read the true stories. For example, the doll itself looks like the scariest thing, I cannot sit there and believe you would like it. I have had a porcelain doll and it was the prettiest thing. Anyway, it was pretty scary at times, other times I was just bored. I don’t think you want that with a horror movie right?

You want people to continue not to pause the movie to look at Facebook. Maybe it was just me. I did like this movie but it wasn’t engaging me but then again the real story isn’t really scary at all except when it happens to you then it is scary. A doll that moves around? Seriously that would be very, very scary but in a movie, you can’t just portray that scarily I think. I like the real story and the scariness of it, It wasn’t the best movie but it wasn’t bad.

If you want to watch a simple kind of scary movie with friends then this is a good one to try. Oh btw without spoiling anything the end was good and scary. It made up the middle that I wasn’t that big of a fan of.

Did you see Annabelle? What did you think?

Lots of love, Melissa
