It’s in his kiss – Julia Quinn
The Bridgerton series is almost coming to an end, and after all, most of her brothers and sisters have found the loves of their lives. Finally, we fully meet the youngest Bridgerton, Hyacinth. But being the youngest does not make her any less feisty.
The Book in short
IF IT’S IN HIS HEART… IT’S IN HIS KISS
MEET OUR HERO…
Gareth St. Clair is in a bind. His father, who detests him, is determined to beggar the St. Clair estates and ruin his inheritance. Gareth’s sole bequest is an old family diary, which may or may not contain the secrets of his past… and the key to his future. The problem is—it’s written in Italian, of which Gareth speaks not a word.
MEET OUR HEROINE...
All the ton agreed: there was no one quite like Hyacinth Bridgerton. She’s fiendishly smart, devilishly outspoken, and according to Gareth, probably best in small doses. But there’s something about her—something charming and vexing—that grabs him and won’t quite let go…
MEET POOR MR. MOZART…
Or don’t. But rest assured, he’s spinning in his grave when Gareth and Hyacinth cross paths at the annual—and annually discordant—Smythe-Smith musicale. To Hyacinth, Gareth’s every word seems a dare, and she offers to translate his diary, even though her Italian is slightly less than perfect. But as they delve into the mysterious text, they discover that the answers they seek lie not in the diary, but in each other… and that there is nothing as simple—or as complicated-as a single, perfect kiss.

My Thoughts
Hyacinth is interesting as she never knew her dad. The other Bridgertons all have this enormous loss, a father they had known and cared for. Hycantih also misses him. Of course, for her, there is also a loss. But this is a loss of what could have been. She didn’t know her father, and this is quite different from her brothers and sisters. I found this very interesting. Violet was pregnant with Hyacinth when Edmund died, but Hyacinth does know things about his father, which is lovely.
I love the relationship between Lady Danbury and Hyacinth. Within the books, she is not at all a big character, but she is in the series. It makes sense now why she was chosen to have a bigger role. I also really like Garret and the way Hyacinth and he begin to spend time together. I think that Hyacinth’s real relationship with Lady Danbury, Garret’s grandmother, is what set all of it in motion, and I liked how she already engaged and liked Lady Danbury.
The premise of the diary is fun, as they learn all sorts of secrets and act upon them. I thought this was nice, and it felt somewhat lighthearted. I think the book, in general, was very fun. It was not my favourite in the series, but I thought it was great, overall.
