After the Credits

The Roses (2025)

This film has Benedict Cumberbatch and Oliva Colman as leads, and both are great. It was the reason for me to watch this film.

The film in short

My Thoughts
The story in itself started very well. I thought it was interesting, although I thought it was a bit strange that they never tried to make both of their dreams happen, especially when it was totally possible. Children are at school throughout the day, and they seemingly have enough money to have people help them with cleaning and such.

They became nasty, and I really went back and forth about who I was rooting for. In the end, they were both horrible, of course. It also felt very predictable, which was the biggest issue, I suppose, with the film.

The ending was a bit much; it became very American. There is no other word for it. The ending itself was interesting and shocked me.

There is this whole storyline with Ivy’s allergy, and I found this to be a bit annoying. Allergies are very serious and a epipen is not enough. If an epipen is used I’m pretty sure you should go to the hospital. i did find the scene where Theo wants Ivy to do somehting but he also wants to give her the epipen and I you can really see the struggle of her stubborness and his own during the scene.

There is another scene where Theo lies and he does it horribly. I was thinking about how to act you can’t lie must be one of the strangest things. I enjoyed Benedict’s performance the best. He is a phenomencal actor and Olivia is also very good. The rest of the cast are all nice and I enjoyed them in other things but I think the difference in skill was too me noticable.

Overal I think it was a fun film, there were some bits I had a good laugh. Even thoguh the ending became very dramatic and that did not particualry fit all that well I did think the very end was shocking and heartbreaking. Which made the film stick in my mind.
