Adventure Abroad

Let’s start

I am sitting here glowing behind my computer screen smiling from ear to ear. This is the most exciting thing I could think of telling you. The most exciting thing that has happened in my life so far. I can’t stop thinking about how lucky I am and how thankful I am to have the courage and the power to take this journey. You have seen the title of this category which just popped into my head when I started writing but yes

I AM GOING ABROAD

From the beginning of the year, I have been busy with it. Planning, sending emails, and planning some more. This is something I have wanted for basically years and this was my chance. I knew I needed to take it. So I did. I am studying to become a teacher’s assistant so I needed to find a school where I could be an intern… a lot goes into planning a time abroad and I wanted it all to go smoothly.

I choose a school after that because with an internship (and this is a pretty big one it’s five days a week for three months) it’s important to love the school. I chose a school that I liked right from the start, That I felt a feeling with. I do this with all my internships after my first one. It has never let me down since. So I wrote them an email and got accepted.

But first a country. I knew I wanted an English-speaking country so I chose England, it’s pretty close and my family could easily visit. I mean Mum didn’t think it was a good idea to go to the United States or Australia.

This also meant that I was going to a city I had never been to because I liked this school most. The school helped me find a place to stay which means I will live with a host family. They seem like very nice people and I am very excited about this journey. I was unsure what I wanted to do with housing first but student housing wasn’t an option and renting means you have to rent for an extended period (at least 6 months) which I couldn’t do.

I am going to NEW CASTLE. It’s interesting because this is a city I have never been to and I have been to a lot of places in the United Kingdom. I looked a lot of things up and it looks so lovely. After the summer in September, I will live in New Castle and I will tell you all about my journey. I hope you like it!
Have you ever been to New Castle and did you like it?

Lots of love,
Melissa

(Due to the privacy and safety of me and others I can’t tell where I am staying exactly or which school I am going to be an intern at. However, I can tell you all about my adventures)
