A little hello from our newest family member

So my mum is a cat person and so am I. When I was young we had cats but then things happened (we moved and one of them died) and we didn’t have cats anymore. Now allergy runs in the family and my parents didn’t want us to develop allergies to animals so it was better not to get new cats. So a while ago Mum and I were talking and I desperately wanted to have a kitten but couldn’t. Because of the chances of developing allergies or already having one and being unaware. Then we talked about Sphynx cats which are hairless.

Anyway, one thing led to another, and when my dad finally agreed we found a cattery. We got a kitten! Her name is Indey and she is a beautiful baby girl who is four months. She is a hairless cat however she has hair around her ears, nose, and tail. She is not completely hairless because the cattery mixes the hairless cats with (in this case) a British short hair. This is because that makes their survival rates bigger. As inbreeding can be a massive problem with animals in general especially if the pool is small such as with this breed. Learn more about the breed here.

So I might blog a bit more later on about this little girl for now I am just very very happy. Do you want to see more about Indey? click here! I do want to say I agree with adopt don’t shop and we did try to find one that way but it didn’t end up working out. Sphynx cats are highly sought after and aren’t brought to kennels. We thus decided to go with a reputable cattery, it was the next best thing

Lots of love, Melissa

and a small kiss from Indey
