Essence Hydro hero tinted cream

This is one of those products I bought because I thought it would be similar to a bb-cream. I wanted a bit of coverage and a thin formula that didn’t feel so heavy on the face. This tinted cream does at least one of those things well.

What does Essence say about their product?
The hydro hero 24h HYDRATING TINTED CREAM combines foundation, moisturizer and sunscreen in one product. Thanks to the buildable, light to medium coverage, the BB Cream creates an even complexion with a fresh, natural finish. 24h – that’s how long the daily care provides moisture. It also protects the skin from UV rays with an SPF of 15. The weightless, oil-free texture is made of 88% natural ingredients, is enriched with hyaluronic acid and is free of alcohol, silicones or perfume. The product feels pleasant on the skin and won’t clog the pores.

The Packaging
The product comes with a small spout which makes use of the product easy. I like it over a pump for this product as the product is not as thick as other foundations.
The tinted cream comes in 3 colours I have the colour 20, Sun Beige. I do find a three colour range way too little. I hope they bring out more colours as this is a bit ridiculous.
All colours:
05 Natural Ivory
10 Soft Nude
20 Sun Beige

What do I think
The product has a thin consistency and feels almost like water on the face, which is quite lovely it does not in any way feel too heavy. The tinted cream itself has very minimal coverage which is not what I wanted out of the product. I wanted a thin formula with a bit of coverage for redness and small blemishes. It might be that the blemishes I want to cover are scaring but I feel that it doesn’t do enough for me to use the product. It covers some of the redness but I feel that the imperfections are very noticeable still. It doesn’t make my skin look good enough to go through the steps of working with it. As it looks just as good when I don’t use it. You can build it up but then it feels as if you need a lot of product and I find that would make you go through the product extremely fast, I also don’t like to use a lot of product as it doesn’t make my skin feel nice. I feel that if I use a product that doesn’t change much or doesn’t add much, I would then rather not wear anything at all.

It’s a fine product do not get me wrong but because it does not bring me the effect I am going for I find myself skipping it over other products. If you love foundation use over your whole face but do not necessarily need it, this product would be great. I think I would appreciate this product more in the summer when the heat means I do not like to use facial products but sometimes I do want some colour or some coverage but not as much as in winter/autumn/spring. I do find that you can hardly feel the product and it does stay on so I find this to be very positive. It’s very much alright but not groundbreaking or anything. If you want to try it go right ahead but if you skip it you won’t miss anything. The tint contains 30 ml and is about 3.99.
