From Where I Stood

A Night Away

The only difference between going away for a two-week holiday and going away for a single day is the amount of clothes you take with you. Or maybe that is just me.

Through social media, I learned that of the Belgium Royal Gardens, the Royal Greenhouses of Laeken, are open for three weeks a year to the general public. Similar to how you can visit Buckingham Palace over the summer, which I also recommend.

The gardens were lovely, more on that some time later, but today I want to tell you about the things I bought and packed for my night away. We had decided to spend the night somewhere relatively close as we had an early timeslot. This is how we ended up in Mechelen. We had a lovely hotel and I really enjoyed spending the night in a hotel as it had been a while.

For Clothes, I packed an outfit, a shirt, jeans, jumper, nothing fancy. I wanted to wear something comfortable that I could easily walk around in.

My best tip to make sure you always take everything you need with you is to do your make-up the day that you are travelling and put everything you use in your case. You can then be sure you have the right brushes and products with you. When you are doing your make-up, you might go. Oh, I have this or that for a night out, and you can immediately put that in as well.

I took the brushes I use roughly every day, as well as the following products. These are (mostly) my daily products:
Catrice Soft Glam Filter Fluid, Alverde Sensitive Powder, Essence Skin Loving concealer, Essence Stay All Day Concealer, Essence brow gel.

For bronzer and blush, I took the Essence Baby Got Bronze and Baby Got Blush.

Then I took two MAC eyeshadows in Malt, and Wedge. I brought the Catrice Glam and Doll Volume Mascara as well as the Essence Liquid Eyeliner.

I took the green vaseline, the Essence Super Peptide and the Trend It Up hero lipstick. As well as plasters and a small compact mirror.

As for skin care and the like. For my hair, I took two rollers for my bangs with a small bottle that I had filled with tap water. I spray the bangs and blow-dry them. I took the invisibobble hairspray, my deodorant, the hair oil I really like, contacts, and contact solution for if I have dry eyes, even though I have daily contacts, I still use contact solution often. I took the Body Shop shower gel as it was almost finished, and my skincare. The products I use are recommended for me by my skin specialist. They have active ingredients, so do not buy them before a professional gives you the go-ahead. Products with active ingredients can harm your skin if they’re not the right fit.

For scents, I have been going through a vanilla phase, using this Vanilla perfume. I also got this Just Peach perfume, it smells very peachy. I have recently found this Balea Lovely Vanilla Bodyspray. Finally, I took a claw clip with me, which I use when doing my skincare.

This was all I took with me when I went a night away. What do you pack when you go away?
